13 pet-friendly cafes/restaurants in Mumbai

Lifestyle

I bet you guys are aware of my obsession with my pooch, Snow Sheth. With his hectic schedule that involves naps, mealtimes, and more naps, I try to fit myself in to spend some quality time (also get his gorgeous shots for my Instagram). Being the most pampered and loved baby at home, my family and I find it extremely difficult to leave him alone when we go out. I am sure people who own pets can relate to it. Hence, I decided to put my research skills into good use to find out which cafes and restaurants in Mumbai welcome our four-legged furries.

Here’s a list of places that adore people who are absolutely OTT and mushy with their pets, with no judgements passed.

1. Doolally (Bandra, Kemps Corner, Colaba, Khar Andheri West):

No matter what hour of the day it is, Doolally is always lively and is happy to host pets. The idea of chilling with some finger food, beer and your dog sounds great, doesn’t it? Doolally offers exactly that with card games, Jenga and more!

2. The Bagel Shop (Bandra):

A place surrounded by trees, creepers and yellow lamps, The Bagel Shop is known for its peculiarity and tranquil environment. Walk into the café with your pet and sip on some coffee, while they play or snooze around the outdoor seating area.

3. Mutt Hutt:

Started by two sisters, Trupti Zaveri and Bhakti Bhukhanwala, Mutt Hutt is a pop-up café for dogs, which floats around with various locations in the city every month. Factors that make them different are their serious consideration of nutritional snacks and treats, training sessions, grooming stations, and a professional photo shoot for dogs. They even conduct concept-based events such as Sunday brunch, Christmas, and Holi. The aim of these events is to make sure you spend some quality time with your pets and allow them to be sociable. Check out their Facebook page to find out about the next pop-up event.

4. Leaping Windows (Versova):

Leaping Windows is this cute little space that not only offers good coffee, but is also a cool place to hangout for chilling or brunching. Although, the most important facet is that it is pet-friendly. Anyone is free to get their pets along at the outside section, read books, comics and enjoy delicious waffles.

5. Café Pefe (Andheri West):

They have a special pet menu that includes a starter, pizza, pasta and risotto for mains, and a dessert too?! Can it get anymore cooler than this? YES! It does. 5% of your bill goes to the care and welfare of strays.

Don’t have a pet? Worry not, because there are quite a number of stray dogs and cats awaiting your attention and love! And many pet owners bring in their pets too with whom you can cuddle and lose your heart to.

6. Zoo Bar (Vile Parle):

The bar is spread across 3,600 sq. ft., with an industrial décor that includes exposed pipes and re-purposed furniture from Jodhpur. However, there are various fun animal sculpture and art work created by Mod’Art students, which brings the venue to life. Zoo bar is known for its beer and an exclusive range of cocktails. So get your pet and enjoy their craft beers and signature cocktails.

7. Coffee by Di Bella (Bandra, Versova, Mahim, Santacruz):

When you say Di Bella, the first thing that comes to your mind is their decadent waffle, coffee and the most sinful FreakShakes. What you’re not aware of is that it is pet-friendly too. Visit their Bandra, Versova, Mahim and Santacruz outlets with your pets. An evening with hot chocolate gets even better if you spend quality time with your pet by your side.

8. Moshe’s (Cuffe Parade):

Moshe’s is an ideal place to go to on Sunday, with a good book and your fluffball. The outside section has a pebbled open space, which is comfortable for pets to walk around and take in some fresh breeze, while you indulge yourself into their cheesecake, fondue, or their famous caramel squares.

9. New Tella (Andheri West):

Nutella lovers, this newly-opened café is exactly where you need to be. I absolutely love this place for obvious reasons; I get to relish Nutella loaded food, desserts and drinks and I get to do it with my dog.

10. Woodside Inn (Andheri West):

It is a chill bar where dogs are allowed only in the outside section, from Monday to Friday between 11:30 am to 5:30 pm. Like most restaurants and bar, they don’t allow outside food but if your pet is a fussy eater, you are allowed to carry pet food and feed it to them at the bar.

What can be better than eating a super-filling, delicious thali, facing the sea, with your pet at your side. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant, which is fiercely pro-pets and insists their guests to bring their pets along. Big happy family fiesta, what say?
